Before I go too crazy optimizing my content for search engines I ought to take the time to optimize my own internal search tools. It's got some flaws right now that are undeniable, for one I can't view stats of what people are searching for. If I could see what people are searching for I can target my information to what the people seem to want.

Also this URL for searches...index.php?s=search+term ugh so 2006
blog.ninedays.org/search/search+term/ way more 2007

And is my search searching pages, tags, categories, category descriptions, excerpts, as well as body content and titles? Who knows. But with a plugin I might be able to find out and hopefully customize the way the results render.

Search Meter: a WordPress plugin - For Wordpress internal search stats
This search seems pretty great thus far, I would actually really like to build off of it and use the 100 most recent search queries be suggested queries for a smarter search like Google suggest or like Netflix's improved search. I'll absolutely keep this plugin installed. One downfall is that it currently doesn't count any live searches. Maybe I can make an adjustment to that.

This plugin works pretty well it's simple but unfortunately it sends two requests to the search, thereby rendering the Search Meter plugin useless (or doubled actually.) I will probably uninstall this plugin, or try and modify it to make it work well with the other --children-- plugins.

I don't see how this search is working or helping. I've changed settings, and done searches but still fail to see much help. I will most likely uninstall this one.

So I got 2/3 not too bad, though it is unfortunate the two solutions I found for my problems don't work well together. Maybe another time.
