On more try at the Faire?
So I was thinking, you know, about how I Sally-ed out at King Richards Faire, well photographically speaking. so I'm strongly considering giving it one more try this next weekend. It's about an hour and a half drive, $24 at the gate but in an effort to face my fears maybe this is really what I need to do for myself. Weather pending, looks like I'll be going down there to redeem my faith in my ability to face fears. You only live once, and ain't no one going to be doing the living for me!
Stepping up on Street Photography
After Googling "how to street photography" and going through a number of pages that didn't help at all, I found this one page that I really found a description of my progression that might be the driving factor to give the faire (and myself) a second try.
It's just a few thoughts Juan Buhler had about street photography and it's better than anything else I have read on the subject, as far as reflecting on the progression of the photographer's confidence level. It really is spot on with the steps...
1. Too far
2. Wrong Side
3. Too Bland
I'm a victim of all these steps and I need to try harder to not be afraid of what people would say if I took a picture of them. I've clearly made it through 2 of the 3 phases, I just need to break out and do it.
Update
Found another great article about street photography over at the Digital Grin Photography Forum about tips, techniques, equipment and motivation. The author talks about how he goes out and just gets in the zone, it takes time but the the shots just start to present themselves. Maybe that's why I have so much trouble with people around, because they stop me from getting in the zone.
Now I'm just making excuses.
the newest discoveries, stories and shared tips!Come on, all the cool kids are doing it ;)
