Something always brings me back to you…
I've used 'em all. And yes, I am showing off, I went from Greymatter to B2. Then it was Wordpress, dabbled with B2Evolution on the side. Gave Movable Type a shot, then played with Textpattern. Fell in love with Expression Engine but in the end I decided to come back to Wordpress. I want it for what it is good for, blogging.
I really liked the multiple blog management in Expression Engine and the overwhelming amount of customization on the back-end but that amount of customization has frustrating limitations, so I decided...for a lack of better words, screw. I just want a blog, not a multiple blog management monster. After I finish putting together my blog I will create a portfolio, and you know what I might do that by hand, or create my own CMS for it.
I'm a huge advocate for not re-creating the wheel, if a blog tool exists don't create a new one cause you know how: modify them. Create plugins, explore, this is the perfect opportunity to actually learn from other people's code.
It's weird getting back into Wordpress, there's so many things I've wanted to do with it this time around that I've never done and have found remarkably easy! In an effort to work on my blog writing I am going to start putting together tutorials about how I have accomplished the modifications I've worked on. Probably tutorials we've all seen a million times before but my goal is to be succinct. Get to the point: clearly, but with a wealth of useful information and then be done.
It never fails I manage to make more tasks for myself while ignoring any other tasks ahead. Love how I do that.
