To the Island

This weekend I finally get to head down to Leetes Island. I'm so excited. All summer all I have wanted to do is head to the island for a weekend. Working on the house or some planned activity has been the major stopper in the drain clogging me from my mini vacation.

It's Guilford Fair weekend so expect to see fair pictures as well as some stunning Leetes Island photography.

I'm heading down there tonight after I get home from work. There is also a distinct possibility that this will be a girls weekend I know my Gram, Aunt Rindy, Mom and I will be in attendance, sounds like it still up in the air whether or not my brother will be getting a train home to join. Once he learns of the excessive amount of estrogen in the cottage I wouldn't doubt that he might take a rain check!

The plan is as follows:

  • Saturday Sunrise: 6:38 am (partly cloudy) - I'm shooting for up-and dressed and sneaking out of the cottage for 5:20am. Unlikely, I know, but 2hrs wandering around the island and then back to bed.
  • Saturday: A day at the fair. Wander around the midway as well as all the art and craft tents. Go see the animals and take as many photographs as my camera can handle (with laptop in the car just in case, I really mean business, I want to have more photos than I can edit, oh wait I already do!)
  • Saturday afternoon: Portraits. I know that would make Gram happy, and when Gram's happy everyone else is sane :) Each individuals and then 5 groups: mother daughter (x3), sisters, three generations. I'm sure I will see some resistance but tough crap ladies it's inevitable!
  • Saturday Sunset: 6:48pm I've got $20 saying that we'll be having clams casino or lobster, neither of which I partake in. So I won't feel bad when between 5:30 and 7:30 I am taking sunset lit photographs around the island. Maybe even take the car up to the main road to get some marsh shots too. *Saturday Night: if it is clear enough (50/50 chance it will be) I will try some astral photography, we'll see it's about 1/2 moon now so it may be too bright for good stars.
  • Sunday Sunrise: 6:39am (sunny) - Despite my success or failure on Saturday AM I will again attempt a Sunday early morning sunrise shoot.
  • Sunday afternoon: heading home.

I literally can't wait. This day is going to pass so slowly I need the relaxation, although from my itinerary it sounds like it will be anything but relaxing!

On more try at the Faire?
So I was thinking, you know, about how I Sally-ed out at King Richards Faire, well photographically speaking. so I'm strongly considering giving it one more try this next weekend. It's about an hour and a half drive, $24 at the gate but in an effort to face my fears maybe this is
